The PayPerPost Revolution Accelerates (yes, again)
- Launch of new PayPerPost.com
- Launch of PPP DIRECTory, promoting all of the bloggers interested in cutting their own sponsorship deals with PPP Direct
- Launch of PPP Labs (shh...this is kinda secret)
- Start of new VP Marketing Shaun Pope (welcome Shaun!)
- Announcement of a pre-emptive $7M B round by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, including investment from Inflexion, Village Ventures and DFJ Gotham
- Coverage of the launch and funding across social media, including Marcus breaking the story, a rather public display of Arrington's VC investing ignorance (sorry Mike, I thought ignorance was a kinder description than deliberate misinformation), a hypocritical Jarvis flip-flop (sorry JJ, your refusal to take a position on my wager makes it pretty clear you know sponsored posts deliver more relevance to SEs than typical organic posts), and yet another thorough review by Andy
- Coverage across traditional media: Forbes, Today Show and others...
The result: PPP's Consumer Generated Advertising revolution is growing faster than ever -- signups by 11am today were already 2X our largest day ever. I'll take that... ;-)
Labels: consumer generated advertising, dfj gotham, draper fisher jurvetson, forbes, inflexion, jeff jarvis, management, mike arrington, payperpost, ppp direct, today show, village ventures

what a great company to be affiliated with. Thanks for the shout out here. I'm excited to follow them into the future
Hmmm... PPP's website looks as if it's been written by a business school alien, not a real person. Sure, you insiders know what they're talking about but the language needs to be meaningful and accessible to ordinary people. Acid test: Q. Can I understand what the site does and how it can help me in 10-15 seconds? A. No.
This may be a great idea but it requires too many (non intuitive) clicks and there is too much VC/business school jargon to penetrate. Don't let your investment go down the tubes because the investee's marketing director can't communicate with human beings.
Guy, this is really good input for PPP or any online company. I'd love some detail on what terms you didn't understand and/or questions you had that you couldn't get answered from the site.
PPP's homepage is currently a blend of corporate (e.g. like IBM, with product information) and transactional (e.g. like eBay, with auctions in progress) -- do you think it should be heavier in one direction or the other?
The signup/tagline "Get Paid to Blog About the Things You Love" sounds pretty basic to me, but I'm probably assuming a target audience that already knows what blogging is. Thanks for stopping by Guy and all detailed input is appreciated!
Dan, well played!
Glad to see PPP is doing so well, if you haven't already you should check out Techmeme. It's been one heck of a ride today, oh...and Guy is right.
A change or two in phrasing could be helpful. Have a great one!
I'd love some suggestions from you or Guy on confusing PPP page terms.
Yes, it has been a fun day. My highlight so far was Arrington deleting my comment about Disclosure Policies here: http://www.crunchnotes.com/?p=410
Weak, even by Arrington standards... ;-)
